Casino Fashion for Women
Casino attire for women used to be about glamorous dresses and fur coats. Over time however, the dress code of casinos has become increasingly more casual in comparison to the traditional 1940’s casino look.
Depending on where the casino is located, dress codes can vary drastically. In the bustling gambling city of Las Vegas, dress codes are much less strict due to the number of tourists that pass through the local strip. Here, casual wear is acceptable, as long as it is not ripped, torn or dirty. Jeans and a fancy summer top would grant admission to most casinos. Other casinos in the United States may have their own unique dress codes however, including the types of shoes, shirts and garments that should be worn.
European casino fashion is much less casual. Guests will often wear business attire at the absolute minimum. Some high-scale casinos will not allow admission to certain gaming areas if the casino’s strict dress code is not met, while less prestigious casinos will have a less fashion-oriented dress code. To inquire about a specific casino’s dress code, it is always a good idea to contact them and ask directly. This is also important because many casinos tend to have a dress theme that frequently changes. It is better to dress appropriately than to stand out as a sore thumb, or worse still be denied entry altogether.
Choosing what to wear during the day or in the evening is simple. When choosing the appropriate attire to wear, keep in mind that some casino resorts have accompanying restaurants and bar lounges, which may have separate dress codes. Examine these regulations and choose an outfit that will satisfy both settings. For example, a loose-fitting dress may be relaxed and simple for daytime, but can become a luxurious and alluring garment at night by adding fashionable accents, such as silk scarves, silver or gold bracelets and high heels with straps that reveal more of your feet. Keeping it clean and sophisticated can assure admittance to most casinos.
Keeping your attire simple but glamorous can be a challenge for many. Although casinos are known for gambling and risk-taking, your choice of garment should not follow this example. While it is an option to dress up and mirror the classic 1940’s casino glam without crossing the line of masquerade, too much make-up, too many colours and too many accessories like jewels and feathers can easily become far too much, especially when worn with a bold-printed dress. Instead, consider wearing a simple one-coloured dress with fewer accessories – this will be more than satisfactory for most casinos. For less glamorous venues, consider wearing a similar garment to what you would wear when going out for dinner at a restaurant. In most cases, casual clothes that are visibly worn, torn, or are stained should not be worn at any casino.
Dressing up for a casino does not have to be stressful. Becoming familiar with the casino’s dress requirements, as well as the casino’s individual rules of what to wear for the restaurants and bars will help limit your choices. It might even help make the choice easier.
